Hello,

my customer is currently doing a design with the SerDes DS90UB933-Q1/DS90UB954-Q1 combination and they are having some problems with the cable length.

A similar cable length issue (with the DS90UB953-Q1  ) was discussed in the following E2E discussion: https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface/f/138/t/672961?DS90UB953-Q1-Cable-type-recommended-for-FPD-link-with-cable-length-up-to-1-5m. Here the maximum cable length could be determined based on the frequency rate and the cable attenuation we recommended in the "preliminary" table (see E2E discussion).

My customer would like to know if we can provide them with a datasheet/application note for the permitted cable length for FPD-Link applications or/and for permitted cable attenuation (something similar to what we provided in the other post but without the "preliminary" on it)? An overview of which cable types we recommend would also be helpful.

Could you please also provide any helpful material on this subject?

    Hi Stani,

    Thanks for message, we can understand your request, please check below my comments:

    1. in our lab, we would qualify the cable type and cable length which is supported in our d/s, or our CTP document, this includes the channel s11/s12 etc.

    2. regarding the word of preliminary, this is used for our compliance test, the compliance test is based on the total system, such as the combo of  serializer / de-ser., clocking mode, etc., As this is on NDA message, for details please use our internal system to further discussion, thanks.
