TPS65983B: Configuration tool is needed for non-Thunderbolt application

Hi,

We would like to use the tps65983b instead of the tps65981 or tps65982, since PD 2.0 will be no longer supported soon in the USB certification process. 

I have not found any document how to configure the tps65983b like tps65981,2,6,7, ....  We would not use it for Thunderbolt. The reason of selecting tps65983b are:

- we need built-in Billboard device (similar to tps65981 and tps65982)

- we need a future proof chip (PD 3.0)

Alternatively, please confirm, if we design in the tps65981 (QFN package is an advantage), itt will not EOL within 3 / 5 or 7 years.

    Hi Andras,

    I can give you some more information to address your questions:

    -The TPS65983B is constrained to function only in Intel Thunderbolt Reference designs. I only recommend this device as part of a system based on a specific Thunderbolt design.

    -For PD3.0 and active device development support, I recommend newer devices such as TPS65987D and TPS65988

    -Billboard support on these devices needs to come from an external source.
