HD3SS3220: Start up with ENN_CC = Low

Hello team,

Customer is thinking to avoid generating interrupt by CC detection at start up.

For that, they want to start up the device with ENN_CC=High(Disable). And then, once the processor is ready, they will set ENN_CC to Low(Enable).

When above control is used, is ADDR pin needed to left OPEN?

Otherwise, even if ADDR pin is Low/High (I2C mode), is it available to enable and disable control of CC detection by CC_ENN pin?

Why not keeping ADDR pin low/high for the I2C mode, ENN_CC low to enable CC, but have the IRQ pulled up to VDD through a 200k resistor?

Hi Saito-san,

Other method of I2C (ADDR low/high) is to Write a 1'b1 to DISABLE_TERM register (address 0x0A bit 0). This will prevent a CC connection from occurring until processor configures HD3SS3220 and writes a 1'b1 to DISABLE_TERM register (address 0x0A bit 0). Interrupt should not be generated during this time.

Hello David-san,

Customer think ENN_CC control is available in GPIO mode. Is it correct?

If customer make CC detection disable at startup by setting ENN_CC to High, is it need to ADDR set to open at start up?

But, I think CC detection may occur until the I2C wtite to DISABLE_TERM register is complete. Is that correct?

Hi Satio-san,

This is correct. EN_CC is a reset pin and is available in both GPIO or I2C mode. ADDR can be left high or low.
