TUSB3410: CAN it operate as a UART to USB bridge?

Hi,

my customer's CPU doesn't have USB port, but have SPI, UART. And they need USB port.

It seems that we only have TUSB3410 as a UART to USB bridge, no SPI to USB bridge, right?

But I wonder why USB can reach 12Mbps while UART seems to be only 921.6kbps?

And do the USB port on this device support to be connected to USB HUB to generate more USB port? The customer need 4 USB port.

Besides, do we have USB to ETHERNET PHY bridge?

Hi Howard,

TUSB3410 can operate as UART to USB bridge. The 12 Mbps is the maximum data rate of the USB FS interface but the actual transfer of data may be at a lower rate. TUSB3410 can be connected to a USB Hub to extend the number of ports.

Hi Howard,

My apolgies my last post was incorrect. TUSB3410 can only act as USB to UART not UART to USB. In other words TUSB3410 only has a upstream port not a downstream port and cannot be connected to the upstream port of a Hub. TUSB3410 can however be connected to a downstream port of a Hub or Host.

You should look into TUSB1210 which may be a better fit.

but TUSB1210 is only USB phy, it doesn't bridge anything like SPI or UART or I2C. The MCU has only such interface.

TUSB1210 does have a parallel interface that can be compatible with UART depending on the baud rate and electrical specifications of the MCU.
