DP83849I: Availability of Ethernet Phy chip device driver

Hi,

We are planning to integrate DP83849I or DP83825I TI Ethernet Phy chips in one of our projects. When we are looking for the device drivers for the following Ethernet Phy chips we were unable to locate it in the kernel source code, we are using Linux kernel version 4.14.98.

Can you please support us in getting any of the above device drivers so that we can freeze our design. Our first preference will be DP83849I Ethernet Phy chip device driver.

The DP83825 is compatible with the DP83822 driver.

These two devices are not generally used in similar applications, what is the application you looking into?

Can you please provide the driver for DP83822 for kernel version 4.14?
Also can you please help us in the driver for DP83849I also?

Hi Ranjith,

I apologize for the inconvenience. The DP83849 should be compatible with the DP83848 driver.

For the DP83822 driver, we have it backported to 4.9 kernel, which should compile on 4.14. You can find it here: https://git.ti.com/gitweb?p=ti-analog-linux-kernel/dmurphy-analog.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/linux_49_dp83822

Please note, this has not been tested, only compile checked. Customers are responsible for their own testing.

Hi Nikhil,

Thanks for your information about the DP83822 driver.

However we have a doubt about the DP83849 driver. DP83849 is dual phy chip and DP83848 is single phy chip, so how will the DP83848 driver will be compatible to the DP83849 chip?

The communication method with the PHY is the same so this should still be compatible.
