Hi All,

I am using ds90ub954-q1 and ds90ub953-q1 as FPD link 3. I have few questions regarding this:

1) What happens if we don't use REFCLK in ds90ub954-q1 for CSI-2 synchronous mode

-> Will it use its internal clock. In my case I am not giving REFCLK but still data is streaming

2) Can I use mclk from MIPI-CSI for the REFCLK

    Hello Wasim,

    954 requires an externally supplied clock at the REFCLK pin. It is not qualified for use with internal clock.

    Hello Casey,

    As of now I am not using external clock at REFCLK and the setup is working(data is streaming). So, I am confused to how and where it is getting the clock.

    Can you please tell me how the setup will behave if we don't use REFCLK and running for CSI-2 synchronous mode.

    Hello Wasim,

    The 954 does have an internal oscillator which can supply the device, however it is not suitable to meet the jitter and frequency stability requirements across process, voltage, and temp to ensure that all functionality of the device is reliable and meets the datasheet specs. So REFCLK is required for 954.
