IO-EXPANDER-EVM: TCA6416A IC，incompatible with the GUI installer

Hi Bobby,

I have the same issue as Blesson. I have populated the IO Expander EVM with the TCA6416A IC. The eval board is connected to the launchpad MSP-EXP430G2ET. When I try to flash the MSP430, it gives the error "Could not find device (or device not supported))". From your reply, I understand that the MSP430  I am using may be incompatible with the GUI installer since the GUI was meant to interface with version 1.5 of the MSP430G2. You suggest to set up the MSP430 to send I2C commands directly to the EVM through the SDA/SCL pins. Could you provide a detail steps for it?

    Hey Xiaolan,

    I can work with one of my colleagues to see if we can provide some kind of example code to do this. Currently he is out of the office though and won't be back until Thursday and I suspect this may take some time to set up (and comment code).

    I will try to follow up with you on Tuesday of next week to see where we are on that.

    Hi Xiaolan,

    I have some sample code that interfaces between a few devices in the MSP430FRxxxx family and various I/O expanders through I2C. I've been working on adapting this code to work for the MSP430G2xxx devices but I'm running into some complications. I will continue working on this and likely have a working sample by the end of this week. Let me know if you have any other questions in the meantime. Thank you for your patience.

    Hey Xiaolan,

    Eric is currently working on generating a work around however he is having some difficulties with trying to get the MSP430G2xxx model to work. He's got code to make the MSP430FRxxx work.

    Would you be able to get a hold of that EVM instead and I can put together some kind of user's guide to connect it to our I/O expander EVM and provide example code for code composer studio's software to run and evaluate the I/O expander?
