I would like to use the TUSB430 for RS485 communication , I would like to use the 2 RS485 tranceiver IC to establish automatic switching of half- duplex and full -duplex communication.

Does the RTS pin of the TUSB3410 can be used without programming the TUSB3410 SOUT and SIN pins for RS485 communication.

Kindly provide if there is any application circuit or application notes w.r.t to this.

Hi Ilan,

The TUSB3410 only supports half-duplex operation in RS485 mode, there is no way to enable full-duplex.

Thanks for yor valid input, shall I take control of the RTS pin of without programming TUSB3410 microcontroller , such that I can use this signal to enable / disable the transmit and inverted RTS signal to disable / enable the receive .

Hi Ilan,

The TUSB3410 must have firmware to operate properly. Figure 3-3 in the datasheet shows how RTS/ can be used in a RS-485 application.
