SN65DSI83: DC Analysis show that It is not compatible to iMx8mini processor

We are using SN65DSI83ZQER in our application with iMx8mini but Logic high and logic low DC analysis shows that it is not compatible with the processor. I have shared the data for your reference.

Can you suggest any alternate of SN65DSI83ZQER which is compatible or validated with iMx8mini ?

  • Hi Gagandeep,

    Aside from the IMx8mini's 1.26 VIH_min and the DSI83's 1.25 VOH_min, the data shows that they are compatible. And I believe that 1.25V vs. 1.26V is negligible.

    Also, note that Iih and Iih is +/-30uA, and Ioh and Iol is +/-4mA for the DSI83.

    The 1.25VOH can be more less due to path drop, do you have any validated data by any chance if the worst case is 1.25VOH or something else?

    Good point. Unfortunately I don't have validation data for this spec so cannot confirm that 1.25Voh is the worst case.

    An alternative to the SN65DSI83 is the DS90UB941AS-Q1, which looks to have a 1.35V Voh_min and is compatible with the rest of the DC specs. However, this device is more powerful and more complicated than the DSI83, and also requires a companion deserializer to interface with the output. It will work, but is probably overkill for your application.
