HUD solution based on TFT with local image processing function,
The general Hud part of the architecture of the vehicle is the vehicle or adas output video to the Hud. Now I want to make a device that simulates the vehicle output video signal to test the Hud function, but requires external input video signal, such as real-time navigation, so the video source needs Supporting serializer chip;
How to achieve it, is it HDMI to LVDS or HDMI to FPD-Link, or is there a better solution?

  • Hi Elsa,

    Do you have a block diagram of what you're trying to do here? HDMI to LVDS and HDMI to FPD-Link are essentially the same thing, and we have some devices that can achieve this depending on your system architecture.

    We do not have a specific block diagram. The requirement is simply to convert the HDMI of the PC or Android host (or other platforms) to FPD-LINK (the HUD end is the DS90UB926QSQE deserializer) and output it to the HUD (the HUD screen resolution is 800 * 480 and 480 * 240)

  • Hi Elsa,

    If you are using an FPD-Link III deserializer (DS90UB926) then you have to use an FPD-Link III serializer on the other end due to FPD-Link III's proprietary signal encoding. In this case, the DS90UB949-Q1 serializer could achieve HDMI to FPD-Link conversion. Although, I do not believe it can support resolutions that low. 

    I will go ahead and move this thread to the FPD-Link section for further assistance.

    Yes this solution could work:

    Computer -> HDMI -> DS90UB929-Q1 -> DS90UB926-Q1 -> Screen

    But we can only support down to 25MHz TMDS clock as per the HDMI standard. So 480x240 most likely would be too low. 800x480@60 should be ok.
