SN65DP159: How to reduce the power consumption in Stand-by mode of PC

Part Number: SN65DP159

SN65DP159 is specified that the device power in power down mode is typ.10mW and max.30mW. But this specification is higher than the device power of our competitor device according to our customer comments.

The below is their idea for reducing the device power in Standby mode that add the FET switch on VDD pin and VCC pin. Their target device power is less than 5mW. As reference, the device power of the competitor is less than max.1mW.

What are the issues with adding FET switches to the VDD and VCC pins?

What do they need to be aware of?

Do you have any good idea?

Please give me your advice for reducing the device power.

Thanks

Tamio
