Hi,

If the unused DIN is open, can it be damaged? (Due to latch-up, etc.)

Suzuki-san,

Since there are no internal pull up or pull down circuitries in DIN pins, it's not recommended to leave them not connected. However if you do so, the open pin won't be damaged itself even there are some fluctuation. BTW, these devices go through latchup tests during qualification before they're released.
