TPS65983B: TPS65983B setting question for dynamic power

Part Number: TPS65983B

Hi Sir,

My customer want to use TPS65983B in tapex creek application. For dual port (60W / 15W) setting, is it correct as below?

And we have to take care is "VBus Max Power" for 60W or other value by customer's requirement?

Best regards,

Gary Teng

  • Hi Gary,

I recommend starting with the TPS656983B Host Interface document and reviewing the description of the Source Policy Modes chapter. Check which policy mode the project is using.

  • Hi Scott,

Thanks for your response. I have other question about dynamic charge:

Customer test dynamic charge function is good in Macbook, but failed in LV X1 (only get 15W in first port). Is there any limitation in supporting dynamic charge function in sink side? And if it doesn't support this function, it will get 15W from source side?

     Best regards,

    Gary

  • Hi Gary,

Can you first  confirm that '83B is using the project that enables Dynamic Charging?

Do you have PD traces for the working and non-working cases? Does the active contract have CapabilityMismatch set?

    Thanks,
    Scott

  • Hi Scott,

We don't know nb side open dynamic charge function or not. And here's log file by using macbook and LV's nb FYI.

    Best regards,

    Gary

  • Hi Gary,

I recommend first checking that the customer has implemented the complete Tapex Creek reference deseign. The default Tapex Creek project has been tested as working with the reference design. I notice you are using the default Source Policy Master settings. If the customer has implemented the reference design then these settings are correct and should not be changed.

    Scott
