Hello all,
Can you tell me where R_cbf and t_cbf (threshold spec of CAN bus fault) are coming from? Are they coming from ISO 11898 standards or others?

RYO

RYO,
Thanks for bringing this question to our attention. Neither value technically comes from a standard that defines some kind of bus fault, but ISO 11898-2 does list RCM of 45Ω to 70Ω as a test condition for the output signal requirements of the CAN bus. Because of that, this is how we define and test our parts. The 1.9us comes from the ability to detect these bus faults on the nFAULT pin only for classic CAN data rates, up to 1Mbps. If using CAN FD rates, the CAN bus fault cannot be detected.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Regards,
