DS90UB960-Q1: DS90UB960-Q1 VC-ID question

Part Number: DS90UB960-Q1

Hi team,

Our customer is using DS90UB960-Q1 and he asked a question to CSI-2 Forwarding of that device. Please support to answer his questions.

The display size is 1280x720, 4ch sensors input, all sensors are set VC-ID=0.

1) In the case, is the output display size 5120(=1280x4) x 720?

2) When one of sensors is disconnected, is the output display size 5120 x 720, or 3840 x 720?

3) When two of sensors are disconnected, is the output display size 5120 x 720, or 2560 x 720?

4) When three of sensors are disconnected, is the output display size 5120 x 720, or 1280 x 720?

Nishimura

  • Hello Soichi,

The default forwarding mode for 960 is basic round robin which does not attempt to synchronize the inputs before sending out the data. In this mode multiple virtual channels are used to differentiate the cameras.

If you want to do the above configuration with one virtual channel you must ensure that the input camera's data streams are synchronized within approx 1 line period and you must use one of the synchronized forwarding modes (datasheet section 7.4.25.2). For example you could use line concatenate mode to achieve the above - see section 7.4.25.5 of the 960 datasheet.

However the number of forwarded sensors must match the number of connected sensors otherwise the synchronization will fail and the device will not output any data. So if you have 4 cameras and all 4 cameras are forwarded with the 0x20 control register and you have enabled line concatenated forwarding, then you would get frame dimensions of 5120x720. If you disconnect one of the sensors then you must also disable forwarding for that sensor with 0x20. So for example if you disabled one camera then the output frame size would become 3840x720 and so on.

    Best Regards,

    Casey

  • Hi Casey,

Thank you very much for your answer.

Considering blanking, what the dimensions of video frame is changed?

If customer includes blanking, the single video flame is changed to 1350x778 from 1280x720. In that case, is the the dimensions of Line-concatenated forwarding 5400 (1350x4) x 778? Or, is the dimension 5190 (1280x4+70) x 778?

    Regards,

    Nishimura

  • Hi Nishimura,

It will be active data only, so the 5400x778.

  • Hi Mandeep,

    Thank you for your answer.

How about Basic Synchronized mode and Line-Interleaved mode?

If customer send four 1350x778 (without blanking is 1280x720) signal, is the signal combined and change to 1350x3112 in Basic Synchronized and Line-Interleaved mode? Or, 1350x2938(720x4x58)?

    Regards,

    Nishimura

  • Hi Nishimura,

It'll be active data as well. What you'll have is LP stages to separate the different streams but the packets themselves will be with the active data.
