DP83822I: MII Loopback Test with Boundary Scan

Part Number: DP83822I

Hi,

We plan to test MII connection between the DP83822I PHY and the Processor with Boundary Scan. Therefore I have the following questions:

1. Are the MII signals in the MII Loopback mode just mirrored at the PHY (like a static copy) or do I have to follow a specific timing in those signals?
2. If there is a specific timing that has to be fullfilled, do you think this is possible with Boundary Scan test method?
3. How do others test the MII interface between PHY and processor without firmware?

So far register access through the serial management interface (MDC/MDIO) with Boundary Scan is working.

Thanks and best regards,

Patrick

  • Hello Patrick,

The boundary scan has nothing to do with the loopback modes.

The timing for the loopback modes follows the same timing as the transmit and receive depending on what loopback you use the timing will be different.

To test the MII interface between the PHY and processpr/MAC please use "8.4.8.2 MII Loopback".

    Thanks,

    Vibhu
