Actually, these do not appear to be equivalent. Pins A5, A9, B5, B6, B9, K4, and L4 look different. Can you please verify?

I think I'm happy with your answer above, but please can you just confirm that in the case of using the TPS65982 as a drop in replacement, we should ignore the pin specification for the TPS65982 where it actually contradicts the TPS65986 datasheet?

For example, pins A5 and B5 (a second I2C interface on the TPS65982) are GND for the TPS65986, but the TPS65982 datasheet says of these pins: "Tie pin to LDO_3V3 or VDDIO (depending on configuration) through a 10-kΩ resistance when used or unused." So can you please confirm that leaving these pins connected to GND is indeed acceptable for the drop in replacement?

Yes, its acceptable to connect A5 and B5 to ground.

Thank you for confirming. I will also assume that pin L4 can safely be treated as a direct connection to ground. (The datasheet for the TPS65982 describes L4 as an input, with a recommended 1k-5M to ground if unused.)

I wanted to ask another question on this. Should the current configuration for software for the TPS65986 work okay for the replacement TPS65982? Is there anything the customer should be aware of or looking to change? Will the configuration work fine if they are not using the functions on the 7 new pins?
