DP83822H: MDIO and multi-chip support

Team, 

My customer has the following question: 

I  am using the DP83822 and was wondering if its ok to hook 4 of them together on the MDIO bus......Anything to watch out for?  Also how do i determine if MDIO is output or input?  Which device drives it?  We are using the MPSoC Xylinx Zynq ultrascale plus.

    Hi Aaron,

    Yes, you should be able to connect 4 DP83822 on the same MDIO-MDC bus. You will need to strap all 4 DP83822 to different PHY address so that the processor can individually access the registers on each PHY. Also, you do not need to connect 4 pull up resistors on the MDIO pins of the 4 PHYs, you can use a single resistor on the combined MDIO bus and place it near the processor.
