DS90UB960-Q1: Configuration & Synchronous Mode Questions

Part Number: DS90UB960-Q1

Team,

We plan to run multiple (up to four) FPD links back into the DS90UB960. We’re mostly interested in the following for this part:

  1. The datasheet’s table #53 seems to indicate that any of the four FPD link streams can be forwarded to either MIPI port 0 or MIPI port 1. Can you confirm that we can use this part as a 4:2 hub? We would want to run both MIPI outputs and switch which FPD link streams get routed to each MIPI output.
  2. How to configure it for synchronous mode with a 24 MHz clock generated to the DS90UB953 parts we will have downstream?

For reference, we plan to pair this with a  DS90UB953ATRHBTQ1 for our serializer. We are running it with a MIPI camera, 2-lane CSI-2 at 1080p, 30 fps

Thank you.

  • Hi Go,

For each RX input of the 960, you can map it to MIPI port 0 or MIPI port 1. You can switch between FPD-link streams for each CSI port.

    2. How to configure it for synchronous mode with a 24 MHz clock generated to the DS90UB953 parts we will have downstream?

Are you asking for how to send a 24MHz clock on the 953? You can calculate the clk_out frequency from Table 6 (Clocking Modes) in the 953 datasheet.

  • Hi Jiashow,

    Thank you for your response!

    1) Looking at the training material for the FPD-link and Table 53, this means that TWO streams of data can be streamed via CSI-2 at the same time?

    2) Does the deserializer automatically aggregate the output of the CSI-2 ports according to how Table 53 is set up? For example, if RX0, RX1, and RX2 is set to CSI-2 port 0 and RX3 is assigned to CSI-2 port 1, will the output of CSI-2 port 0 be RX0 →RX1 → RX2 → RX0... while CSI-2 port CSI-1 would constantly output RX3?

    Thanks,
    Tim

  • Hi Tim,

    1) Looking at the training material for the FPD-link and Table 53, this means that TWO streams of data can be streamed via CSI-2 at the same time? Are you asking can you aggregate two input cameras and output onto the same CSI port on the 960? If so, the answer is yes. You can control the mapping based on the Table 53 register.

CSI-2 Port0 will have data for RX0, RX1, RX2 available, and CSI-2 Port1 will constantly output RX3. The order in which CSI-2 Port0 outputs the data depends on how you set your CSI-2 Forwarding method. Refer to section 7.4.25 from the datasheet.
