LMH0397: Carrier Detect Method

Hi,

Could you please tell me the detailed conditions to detect a carrier signal if assigning the CD_N status to LOCK_N pin via SMBus with the cable driver mode?
According to LMH0397 data sheet, is my understanding correct that LMH0397 can perform a carrier detect with only signal amplitude?

Hi Kato-San,

To assign carrier detect to the LOCK_N pin so it would reflects signal detect on IN0 in cable driver mode, please note section 3.15.6 of the LMH0397 programming guide(SNLU225). There are other settings which could be helpful for each application.

I will confirm LMH0397 programming guide about setting of CD_N status later.
By the way, I would like to confirm just in case, but is CD_N asserted or de-asserted only by comparing the input signal amplitude with the threshold?

Hi Kato-San,

Carrier detector checks signal within certain frequency band. Then this is checked against certain threshold to make sure there is signal across different data rates and cable length.
