TPS65982: cannot be update to the latest FW (re-flash EVM)

Would you be able to walk me through how you are trying to update the flash image on the EVM?

I have it connected to the PC like shown in attachment

Than I open the TPS6598x Application customization tool.

Click "Device" and select "Re-Flash EVM firmware"

Than immediately i get the notification failed.

Make sure that the EVM Recovery File you select is for the TPS65982. When you click "Device" and select "Re-Flash EVM firmware, there should be a drop down menu for which EVM Recovery File you select.

Yes I am 100% sure I selected TPS65982

Apologies for the delay,

First, make sure that the programming board is connected properly to the EVM

Next, make sure that you are connected to the FTDI chip on the programming board. This is done by opening the configuration tool, click Adapter -> Configure I2C/SPI Adapter Settings.  Next make sure that FTDI is selected on the USB to I2C/SPI Adapter setting. Then click Sweep I2C address range. If you get a valid address read back, then you know you are connected to the FTDI properly. After going through the above steps, try re flashing the EVM firmware.

If that does not work, click on Binary -> Flash from binary file. Then click change file, and go to the following location within your computer C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments\TPS65981_2_6_7_8 Application Customization 6.1.1\tps6598x-application-customization\recovery . This is if you used the default location for the GUI when downloading. Next select tps65982_evm_flash_image.bin and click okay.

Dear Adam,

The first step is not working for me. The FTDI reports back valid adresses so the FTDI is configured correctly in my opinion. Only Re-flash EVM firmware does still not work.

However the second suggestion Flash using binary file is working fine I was able to flash the TPS65982 back to it's stock firmware. But I am still curious why the Re-flash EVM firmware function is not working for my configuration.
