Hi All,

I am evaluating a product for the automotive sector that acts as a USB Charging Port. The product has the following characteristics:

- 2 ports: 1 USB C and 1 USB A;

- Charges up to 5V with 3.0A USB-C / 2.4A USB-A;

- Supply 12V

Anything to propose me?

Hi Antonio,

Can you clarify the statement "charges up to 5V"? Our single cell LiIon chargers only charge up to 4.44V max. Do you mean USB-C is providing 5V supply? or is USB-C PD providing 12V?

Antonio,

What is the max charging current? Is it single cell LiIon? I assume there is a host processor that can write to a charger's I2C registers and communicate with I2C?

Hi,

The charging port is an automotive product supplied with a 12V (car battery voltage) and shall provide charging for a USB type A and a USB Type C port.

No interface towards a host processor.

Do you have any products I can start propose to customer and then we can keep asking questions based on our proposal?

Hi Antonio,

If you need an auto qualified 1S LiIon charger, the only option is BQ24105-Q1 2-A charger.

If not, then BQ25601 is a 3-A, 1S LiIon charger.
