TPS65987D: Surge and ESD protection for TPS65987D

We are currently using  TPD6S300 and TVS2200 for transient overvoltage protection of TPS65987D in our design. I noticed that the maximum voltage rating at VBUS for TPS65987D is 24[V] while the breakdown voltage of the TVS diode in TVS2200 is 25.9[V] and the reverse standoff voltage is 22[V].

Is this sufficient for surge and ESD protection of VBUS without damaging TPS65987D?

If not, please help source or advise for surge and ESD protection options that are appropriate for TPS65987D.

    Hi Sunaal,

    The TVS2200 is the best diode in the market for this specific purpose. While it is slightly above the maximum operating conditions, there is no other diode that can guarantee that the voltage will not rise above a specific amount. This is due to the fact that the TVS2200 is an active circuit as opposed to a traditional diode, so the clamped voltage will remain steady regardless of surge current.

    The TPD6S300 is sufficient as well.
