I am trying to read PHY registers of Marvell 88E6393X with USB-2-MDIO and EXP430F5529 eval board. I followed the instruction to connect it to 2.1V (for 1.8V MDIO interface).

I was able to find PHY IDs 0 to 10 and 27 to 31. But when I tried to read register 0 from PHY ID 10, I have an error "Register 0 is: Error! Improper length format in basic read/write"

Any help is appreciated.

Hello Tuan,

Can you check to see if you have the same issue when you try to read registers from a TI PHY?

In case of TI PHYs the MDIO is referenced to MDIO. You will have to check the Marvell part and datasheet to see what the MDIO is referenced to or if there is a different procedure to access registers.

I figured out that I need to have register address to be "0000" instead of "0". The issue was resolved.
