NS16C2552: About XOUT pin

Part Number: NS16C2552
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TL16C2552,

Hi,

Could you tell me about XOUT pin.
Following circuit example is listed on datasheet page 22 Fig 5.
Please tell me the background of the "R=2K" resistor installation.
This resistor is not described in the data sheet of TL16C2552.
Customer is comparing NS16C2552 and TL16C2552, and cares about the difference.

Regards,
Yusuke

  • Hey Yusuke,

XOUT is an output so i suspect it could just be left floating. The only reason I can think of to apply a DC bias to a pin like this is to give the AC signal a DC offset so if that is the case, then potentially there is an internal 2k resistor referenced to GND to provide this offset. I do not think this is the case though seeing as when the XOUT pin is used in an oscillating circuit, there likely is not a 2k equivalent impedance from a crystal circuit.
