DS90UB954-Q1: DS90UB954 and DS90UB953 communication issue

Part Number: DS90UB954-Q1

Hi,

I have  DS90UB954 deserializer + DS90UB953 serializer and ov2311 sensor setup connected with my board . I am able to read and write deserializer I2C registers, Receiver  is locked(RX_PORT_STS1 (0x4D)) and i can read SER_ID from 0x5B(DS90UB954) as 0x30.

But Communication between DS90UB954 deserializer + DS90UB953 serializer is not stable, sometimes i am not able to read/write serializer registers. I am getting i2c read/write error.

I am operating 953 in synchronous mode (50 Mbps back-channel)  DS90UB954(0x58) = 0X5E.

  • Hello Shammi,

having remote I2C write/read errors means your link is unstable or you have higher noise on any of the power supply rails/pins.

Please monitor LOCK and see if it is toggling and register 0x4D[4] to see if LOCK istatus was changed. Also check register 0x4D[5] to see if you have CRC errors.

  • Hi Hamzeh,

We currently were observing PASS register status and it is toggling. We used another camera with 933 serializer in RAW 10 mode and we were able to communicate however there were some BER on the chennel. We believe that there might be some issue on the PoC filter of FPD link as we tried 2-3 filter designs with impedance more than 3k ohms for frequency domain up to 4GHz and the issue is still the same. Can you please tell us the exact filter to be used with this de-serializer? As the filter schemes for EVM and filter scheme mentioned in data sheet is different.

  • Hello Mandan,

As stated by you, you are using the Synchronous mode which means your PoC must fulfill the requirements (see 954 datasheet table 227) between 25MHz up to 2.1GHz.

The correct PoC filter for you is the one shown in the same datasheet figure 41. Please make sure you are using all 3x FB (not just one).
