TUSB217-Q1: I2C frequency

Part Number: TUSB217-Q1

The datasheet for TUSB217RGYTQ1 mentions that the max I2C frequency is 100kHz. We did some preliminary testing in our lab at 400kHz and it seems to be able to read back the slave address.

Is it ok to use a 400kHz SCL on the I2C line for communication? What are the possible downsides of using a 400kHz clock.
