THVD1450: VIT+ of THVD1450

Part Number: THVD1450
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65175,

Hi team,

In the datasheet, http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/sllsey3e/sllsey3e.pdf, it mentioned the Max Vth+ is -20mV,

But in 10.2.1.4 Receiver Failsafe session, it describes differential signals more positive than 200mV will cause high receiver output. Which quite confused me.

Meanwhile, in SN65175, the number are aligned,

Which make me quite confused. So may I confirm the VTH+ number for THVD1450?

  • Hi Holly,

The Electrical Characteristics table is correct.  The RS-485 standard allows for Vth to fall anywhere between +200 mV and -200 mV.  THVD1450 supports a tighter range, and has values that are always slightly negative so that a 0-V input signal is considered "high" (rather than indeterminate).

    Regards,
    Max
