TPS65983B: TPS65983B I2C address setting question in Tapex Creek platform

Part Number: TPS65983B

Hi Sir,

My customer use TPS65983B in Tapex Creek platform. They use 1 PD only and want to use in the 2nd TBT port, but we can't adjust I2C device in GUI. Is there any method to change 983b's I2C device setting through GUI? (ex: change I2C address from 0x38 to 0x3f in 1 device application)

Best regards,

Gary Teng

  • Hi Gary,

In the case of TPS65983B in a TBT system the I2C address needs to stay as configured in the reference design and GUI for system compatibility .

  • Hi scott,

In this case, customer's 983B is in the second TBT port but there's only 1 PD on their design. I think at intel's design, 0x3F is set as PD address for their TBT port 2. But we can't config a 1 port Tapex creek design with address 0x3F and need to choose 2 port Tapex creek design and config the second PD with address 0x3F. It's workable, and is this the only way to use 0x3F as 983B's address?

    Best regards,

    Gary

  • HI Gary,

For these devices the layout needs to match the reference or else there may be unintended issues. There is not a way to adjust the configured number of devices or the I2C settings for each device in the project.

If you use the pictured project, the created binary is for a 2 device system with the specific I2C addresses configured on each device.

    Regards,

    Scott
