TUSB422: tusb422 vs tps65987d

Part Number: TUSB422
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65987D

Hi,

my customer would like to design a charge circuit in the equipment which can interact with USB TYPE C PD adaptor for fast charge.

The main need is that the circuit will communicate with the adaptor through the typec connector to adjust the adaptor's output voltage.

I wonder if TUSB422 could achieve the function.

It seems much cheaper than TPS65987D.

When do we use TPS65987D, when do we use TUSB422?

  • Hi Howard,

TUSB422 requires an external MCU in order to realize its function. In addition, customer will need to work heavily with TUSB422 software. TI has extremely limited support with respect to this software. TPS65987D does not require an external MCU and is fully support by TI.
