DS90UB953-Q1: DS90UB953-Q1 STP Concerns

Part Number: DS90UB953-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UB954-Q1, , DS90UB960-Q1

Dear colleagues,

Our customer is evaluating DS90UB953-Q1 and DS90UB954-Q1, they have below questions:

1. What is the speed of FPD-LINK? Can it be set?

Is speed related to camera data or resolution? We see the data shown in Table 6.4.1

2. If you select asynchronous external clock mode, the speed of FPD-link is the last set of the screenshot, such as the speed of 50M * 40 = 2G. If this speed is fixed, it has nothing to do with the camera sensor, as long as the sensor meets less than f * 32, this is right?

3. When using STP mode transmission, whether it can realize single direction transmission and data be sent from 953 to 954 and then deserialized into MIPI signal? We want to transfer the camera image data to 954 and then deserialize, can this be achieved?

Best Regards,

Rock Su

  • Hello Rock,

    1) The Speed of the Link is the FC Data Rate mentioned in the table above. This can be calculated as explained.

    2) Correct.

    3) There is no difference between using STP or Coax mode. This is just indicating the used cable. It has nothing to do with the datarate.

  • HELLO Hamzeh:

     Thank you for your reply.

    • However, we want to implement one-way transmission.it can realize single direction transmission and data be sent from 953 to 954 and then deserialized into MIPI signal? We want to transfer the camera image data to 954 and then deserialize, can this be achieved? How to set up?

  • Hello User6250071,

Serializers and Deserializers are always working in this way!! I do not really understand what should be difference here than normal operation?

  • HELLO Hamzeh

            Thank you for your reply!

The second question,The unit of transmission speed of FPD-link is Gbps ?and The  speed of FPD-link is  2 Gbps, and  the clock frequency of the transmission speed is 1GHz?

As shown in the picture below ?

The PoC network impedance of ≥ 2 kΩ over a specific frequency band is typically sufficient to isolate the
transmission line from the loading of the regulator circuits. The lower limit of the frequency band is defined as ½
of the frequency of the bidirectional control channel' (fBCC). The upper limit of the frequency band is the frequency
of the forward high-speed channel (fFC).
图 16 shows an example PoC network suitable for a "4G" FPD-Link III consisting of DS90UB953-Q1 and
DS90UB954-Q1 or DS90UB960-Q1 pair with the bidirectional channel operating at 50 Mbps (½ fBCC = 25 MHz)
and the forward channel operating at 4.16 Gbps (fFC ≈ 2.1 GHz). Other PoC networks are possible and may be
different on the serializer and the deserializer boards as long as the printed-circuit board return loss requirements
given in 表 177 are met.

This is calculation of  Diagram Coaxi ,and calculation of  the Diagram STP is same ?

I am anxious for your answer!

            Thanks a lot !

  • Hello,

I can't see any picture. Can you please re-attach?

  • HELLO Hamzeh

The picture is datasheet page 69 of  DS90UB953-Q1,

this is "The PoC network impedance of ≥ 2 kΩ over a specific frequency band is typically sufficient to isolate the

  • Hello,

1- For STP normally people are not using PoC. Nevertheless, yes, it is the same calculations.

    2) Yes, Gbps.

    3) Yes, if you are using Non-Synchronuous External Clock mode, and you set CLKIN_DIV=2, then FC 40.
