DS80PCI800: DS80PCI800 design question

Part Number: DS80PCI800

Hi,
My customer has a new model that they will use DS80PCI800SQE, and they want to confirm a design topology problem. At first, this is a dual CPU motherboard, and the platform is Purley. They plan to use two DS80PCI800SQE:

First device: DS80PCI800's INA (TX) connects to CPU_0 PCIex4, DS80PCI800'sINB (TX) connects to CPU_1 PCIex4

Second device: DS80PCI800's INA (RX) connects to CPU_0 PCIex4, DS80PCI800'sINB (RX) connects to CPU_1 PCIex4,

Can they design like this?

Thanks

  • Hi Paul,

It sounds like you are designing a system where two DS80PCI800 devices are being used to connect two x4 PCIe links between CPU0 and CPU1.  Right now I do not see any issue with this arrangement.  Multiple DS80PCI800 devices are almost always used to implement x8 and x16 PCIe interfaces.

    Regards,
