TUSB9261-Q1: Does it work without external Flash(EEPROM)

Part Number: TUSB9261-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB9261

Hi,

I'm confused by the answers from the TI support form, it seems the answers are conflicted, so I don't konw if I can direclty use TUSB9261-Q1 to expand an USB to SATA interface without software development including flash burning.    and I even don't want to design the SPI interface and EEPROM(Flash) on my schematic, is it possible to realized the function.

Please help me check

1.  https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface/f/138/t/772543?keyMatch=TUSB9261&tisearch=Search-EN-everything

the answer from Nicholaus Malone explained that it is not need to burn flash firmware and defaut firmware can be used .

Jorge said that external eeprom must be stored with the firmware.

Thanks
