DP83TC811S-Q1: Can’t read PHY device ID through MDIO and MCK

Hi team,

My customer now use RGMII interface with DP83TC811.

However, they can't read the PHY device ID through MDIO and MCK.

The power, crystals (25Mhz) and reset are all normal.

So my question is:

How could we judge whether our PHY is working normal by testing some pins in hardware.

Because I think it is mostly software problem, and how could I prove the hardware is ok?

Since my customer will go to their OEM to test the board, this issue is quite urgent.

Could you please kindly give some guidance or advice? Thanks very much in advance!

In order to speed up the debug, I keep in touch with customer to get more information:

MCK is 3MHz
RX_CLK is 25MHz
They use Linux's standard function "get_phy_device" to read. Is it wrong? Not sure my understand is right. We need our own driver to read/wirte?

Hi Amelie,

As discussed during the call I believe this issue is already resolved. Do share your findings about what was wrong with phy_id read procedure.

It is because customer Linux kernel... They change some code in their linux driver, not our PHY's problem.
