DP83867IR: DSP Feedforward Equalizer Configuration (DSP_FFE_CFG)

Part Number: DP83867IR

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask DP83867?

There is DSP_FFE_CFG register at Address 0x012C.
We got that this register is used to improve short cable performance.

We would like to know it correctly as the reference.
This Equalizer function is De-emphasis, right??
And then, where does Equalizer function locate? The latter part of DAC?

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Hi all

We guess that your days are so busy and your environment might not be happy.
However if you have some update could you let us know?

    Kind regards,

    Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Hello Hirotaka-san,

Sorry I may not have got your question correctly. This FFE is on the receiver path of the phy and is used to cancel the pre-cursor part of the data distorted by channel.

Thank you so much for your reply!

This FFE is on the receiver path of the phy and is used to cancel the pre-cursor part of the data distorted by channel.
->We may not understand it correctly.
Is this function Equlaizer for in front of  ADC signal? And then, compared with default setting, the value of register with short cable is more than the default value.
Usually, in case of EQ and short cable, we assume that the value will be small.

    Kind regards,

    Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Hello,

This FFE is after the ADC. Properties of FFE is used to cancel some other artifacts of short channel in this short cable case (secret :)  ). For longer cable reach, yes use of FFE is as per your understanding.
