HD3SS213: question

Hi Experts,

I have a question. HD3SS213 can work well with a redriver, such as TUSB212 or SN75DP130? I don't believe it has any concern, but I want to get your opinion.

You have to take a look to see if the application is DC-coupled or AC-coupled application. For DC-coupled application, what is the common mode voltage and does this particular common mode voltage meet the HD3SS213 common mode voltage requirement?

<AUX>
[source:aux]-[AC coupling cap]-[SN75DP130]-[HD3SS213]-(cable)-[HD3SS213]-[AC coupling cap]-[sink]

<Displayport(11 lane), I2C(3.3V)>
[source]-[AC coupling cap]-[SN75DP130]-[AC coupling cap]-[HD3SS213]-(cable)-[HD3SS213]-[AC coupling ca]-[sink]

For AUX line, does it work correctly?

For Displaport, I think it will work correctly.

Please below block diagram for the source and sink connection. Why do they need to use DP130? Can they use DP142?

Customer is used HD3SS213 for type-c connector rotation. Please see attached file. Customer want to use HD3SS213 because customer has been used it other project. Would you please check the attached file whether it will be work correctly?

I don't see how they can use HD3SS213 to support Type C rotation, would you please provide a detailed connection?

For the source side, why not use TUSB546/TUSB1046 and for the sink side, why not use TUSB564/TUSB1064? This combines both the linear redriver and Type-C mux into one single chip, reduce their board space.

Please note the sink has to have the ability to support Assignment E Alt mode to be spec compliant.

If customer choice TUSB564, customer is able to remove DP redriver(SN75DP130)? I think customer may use a case of Figure 36 in datasheet. In that case, PD controller will be needed, correct? If so, would you please suggest recommended device?

Yes, if TUSB564 is used, then they can remove both the DP130 and HD3SS213. The case will be the same for TUSB546 on the source side that they can remove the DP130 and the HD3SS213.

For the PD controller, they can use the TPS6598x family.
