TPS65987D: ProductType as a UFP from a docking product

Hi,

We're using TPS65987DDH on a docking product using PD FW generated from http://www.ti.com/tool/TPS6598X-CONFIG

There's a USB hub within this docking product (supporting USB2/3 mode and DP mode) and it behaves as a power source supplying up to 20V/5A. May I know how should we decide how to configure Product type (UFP) as shown below? Should it be "Alternate Mode Adapter" or "PD USB hub"?

Hi Antony,

Here are the definitions for AMA and HUB. If the customer has downstream ports that are capable of PDUSB, then I would recommend they click this option.

Hi Adam,

THanks for your comments. From the description of spec you quoted, if the DFP port on the docking only support USB2/3 but not PD function, they don't need to choose PDUSB Hub, right?

The other way of the question is, if they don't have any DFP port, can they choose PDUSB Hub? Or they MUST choose AMA?

In that case, I think an AMA more aligns with their system capabilities
