SN65DP159: Does SN65DP159RSB have the measurement feature or the register?

Part Number: SN65DP159
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB3410

Hi,

I would like to ask an question for SN65DP159RSB.

I have an issue about 4K60p video transmission.

I am using SN65DP159RSB as a source device and am setting the working mode to the pin strap mode.

I sometimes see the issue that the monitor does not display anything.

It seems that the monitor does not correctly receive 4K60p video coming from SN65DP159.

I measured the output waveform of SN65DP159RSB but each channel waveform looked good so far.

Does SN65DP159RSB have the measurement feature or the register to check the receiving video timing,

for example Htotal, Vtotal, Active area, clock frequency etc?

If yes, can you tell me how to use that way?

Best regards,

  • Hi,

There is an EyeScan tool available for DP159. You can download the tool at http://www.ti.com/product/SN65DP159/toolssoftware, The eye scan user guide is available at http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sluubk2/sluubk2.pdf. Please note that the tool only works with TI TUSB3410 since it is looking into the hardware IDs on the device properties, where the VID is 0x0451 and the PID is 0xCA01.

Can I please take a look at your schematic? For pin-strap mode, please leave both EQ_SEL and TX_TERM_CTL pins floating.

Could you please measure the clock output of the DP159 and dump out the DP159 registers for both the passing and the failing case?

    Thanks

    David

  • Thank you for your reply.

I will send a schematic by another way.

Please check it and let me know your review result.

Then, I already tried I2C working mode.

But I confirmed that the issue still happened.

The fowling were my setting of MISC Control register.

I think that Adaptive EQ setting is not effective to my product issue.

From now, I will also check input signal of SN65DP159.

    MISC Control Register

    0x09h : 0x02

    0x0Ah : 0x31

    0x0Bh : 0x1A

  • Hi,

Would you please dump out all the DP159 Page 0 and Page 1 registers?

Page 0 registers are the registers in the DP159 datasheet. To access Page 1, please write 0x01 to register 0xFFh first and then dump out register from 0x00h to 0xB1h.

    Thanks

    David

  • Hi,

I will send the register dump list of SN65DP159RSB.

    Please check it later.

I checked the registers of “OK case” and the registers of “NG case”.

The only difference is the value of 0x4A at Page1.

However, I could not check the meaning of this difference because there is no description in the datasheet.

Can you tell me the meaning of that?

    (Page1 Address 0x4A)

    OK Case : 0x0F

    NG Case : 0x07

    Best regards,
