USB 3.0 hub

One of my USB product function properly in usb 3.0 hub but not function or resets without USB 3.0 hub. Does hub condition the signals?

Yes, a USB hub will completely regenerate the USB signals.

Hi Thanks,

But what my case is, device reset issue occurs at connected via PC or hub(without external power).

And issue not occured when device connected via hub (when hub is external powered).

So my doubt is, does the hub regenerate only when the hub is externally powered ??

Hi Vignesh,

Is your device bus-powered? It may be pulling too much current at power on and cause the reset issue. This would explain why you don't see the issue with a externally powered hub. Which hub and device are you using?

Hi JMMN,

Device is bus powered and it consumes around 570mA @5V. It is having cypress CX3 chip in it.

Hi Vignesh,

If the device has high in-rush current it could still cause the problem. How much bulk capacitance is on VBUS? Can you try externally powering the device and see if it works without the hub?

Hi JMMN,

I have measured the inrush current with multimeter(with min-max setup), there is no high inrush current.

We put bulk and decaps are as recommended and also I have increased the bulk caps from 10uF to 47uF but still issue remains.

Ill test with external power and come back.
