TUSB1046A-DCI: Making a DisplayPort to USB-C ALT mode dongle -> AC Coupling DisplayPort?

Part Number: TUSB1046A-DCI
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65987D, TUSB1046EVM

Hello all,

I'm currently designing a PCB to convert a normal full sized DisplayPort to USB-C ALT mode. So there is a DisplayPort input, which the TUSB1046 converts to a USB-C ALT mode output (with the help of a TPS65987D PD controller).

However, the TUSB1046 doesn't list such a scenario in the datasheet. It only shows it directly being placed on the PCB carrying the GPU, which brings the question on where the AC coupling capacitors should be placed on my board, if any required. For the USB 3.x it's quite clear you always place AC coupling capacitors only on the TX traces as close as possible to the transmitting chip. For DisplayPort however this is no so clear, do I still need to place AC coupling capacitors on my board, even if it is only receiving? The datasheet could make a clarification in this like "The DisplayPort doesn't need AC coupling capacitors on the TUSB1046 side" or whatever is the right way to do it.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Falco
