PCA9306: Two PCA9306 connected together

Part Number: PCA9306

Customer would like to confirm:

1. Could they use two pcs of PCA9306 to replace TAC9617B below, and connected like below? Any concerns with the connection of "1" and "2" side?

2. Any layout suggestions/concerns if the frequency of signals goes up to 1MHz?

  • Hello,

It is OK to connect multiple PCA9306 devices in parallel as long as you make sure that VREF2 is greater than or equal to VREF1. Since this device uses a passive switch architecture rather than an active buffer, the load capacitance on both sides should be considered when choosing pull-up resistance values. The RC constant of the pull-up resistance in conjunction with the load capacitance would be the primary limiting factor to data rate.
