TPS65982: PD 3.0 compatibility

Hi,

The TPS65982 page says that "this device supports PD 2.0 only which is no longer being certified by the USB-IF." Is this device backwards compatible with PD 3.0?

The TPS65982 was designed before PD 3.0 was defined, so no it does not support PD3.0 functionalities.

I would suggest moving to the TPS65987D if you have not already finalized your design.

Thank you for your reply, however, this was not exactly what I was looking for. Let me rephrase - when used as a sink, will the device work when a PD 3.0 compliant source is connected to it?

Yes it should work as any PD 3.0 device also supports PD2.0 features. Would still recommend switching to the TPS65987D as the TPS65982 is no longer being certified by USB-IF
