DS90UB953-Q1: questions about considering wiring and safety standard

Part Number: DS90UB953-Q1

Hi Expert

Could you please support my customers questions as below?

Q1,  In order to consider the wiring of the line pattern of MIPI CSI-2, please tell the wiring length in the IC Package of each applicable pins.

Q2, Regarding the datasheet spec of Return Loss, S11=-20dB@1/2fBCC < f < 0.1GHz, -12dB@1GHz < f <fFC and something.(datasheet p72)

Is this spec for between the serializer(or deserializer) and the connecter? or between the serializer to the deserializer?

Customer understanding is, it is for between the serializer(or deserializer) and the connecter. is it correct?

Also, could you please provide me  the information of the "Return Loss" + the "Insertion Loss"?

Q3, Regarding the SPEC of Insertion Loss for low frequency, it is -0.35dB@f <0.5GHz.
What is minimum frequency that should keep over -0.35dB performance?
From the FPD-Link III bandwidth (20MHz to 2.1GHz), is it okay to regard it as -0.35dB@20MHz <f <500MHz?

Q4, Does the DS90UB953-Q1 have the ASIL B, QM standard?

Thanks

Muk

  • Q1,  In order to consider the wiring of the line pattern of MIPI CSI-2, please tell the wiring length in the IC Package of each applicable pins. Refer to the end of the datasheet for packaging information.

This is for the single ended PCB trace + connector. So the serializer + connector OR deserializer + connector.

Also, could you please provide me  the information of the "Return Loss" + the "Insertion Loss"? What information are you looking for? We have the spec in the table you are referring to.

Q3, Regarding the SPEC of Insertion Loss for low frequency, it is -0.35dB@f <0.5GHz.
What is minimum frequency that should keep over -0.35dB performance? The minimum should be half the back channel, the same as the return loss lower limit.
From the FPD-Link III bandwidth (20MHz to 2.1GHz), is it okay to regard it as -0.35dB@20MHz <f <500MHz? The lower limit depends on the back channel frequency.

Q4, Does the DS90UB953-Q1 have the ASIL B, QM standard? We can provide safety documentations to help you meet the safety requirements.

  • Hi Jiashow-san,

    Thank you for your answer,

    Sorry for your confusion.

Regarding Q1, It is meaning wire bonding length in the IC.

Regarding Q2,  Could you please let me know the information of the "Return Loss" + the "Insertion Loss"  for from serializer to deserializer.

    Thanks

    Muk

  • HI Muk-san

I don't think you need the wire bonding length for CSI routing. As long as you follow the below skew matching:

    • Pair-to-pair (ex. Data to CLK) spacing should be at least 3 times the trace width.
    • Pair-to-pair (ex. Data to CLK) length matching should be within 5 mils.
    • Intra-pair (P and N) spacing should be 2 times the trace width.
    • Intra-pair (P and N) length should be within 5 mils.

Are you looking for a complete channel spec requirement?

  • Hi Jiashow-san,

Regarding Q1,   Is it meaning, if customer will design the trace satisfied your recommendation, customer don't need to consider about internal wire bonding length? And, do it meet the MIPI standard operating requirements?

Regarding Q2,  Could you please let me know the information of the "Return Loss" + the "Insertion Loss"  for from serializer to deserializer.

Customer want to consider about cable loss. This is to confirm how much to anticipate when performing simulation and measurement SPEC specifications.

Regarding Q4,  Does the DS90UB953-Q1 have the ASIL B, QM standard? We can provide safety documentations to help you meet the safety requirements

Could you please provide the documents for the ASIL B, QM standard?

    Thanks

    Muk

  • Hi Muk,

    Q1. That's correct.

Regarding the documents you are requesting, I've sent you a friend request, please accept it so I can forward them to you.

    Jiashow

  • Hi Jiashow-san,

Thank you. I accepted friend request.

Regarding Q2, I would like to get your comment.

(I think, The cable loss is out of spec of our IC. Therefore, we cannot answer it to customer. is it correct?)

    Thanks

    Muk

  • Hi Muk-san,

I sent you an email with the safety documents.
