Dear expert,

My customer is looking for a CAN controller like TCAN4550 that can be used with our MSP430 (without CAN function), so that can add CAN communication. Can this solution work? Do we have more cost optimized CAN controller? Thanks.

    Minqi,

    This is exactly the type of application for the TCAN4550-Q1. The customer can use the SPI on the MSP430 to configure the TCAN4550-Q1 CAN configurations and messages, then the integrated transceiver can transmit those messages to the CAN bus.

    The TCAN4550-Q1 product folder has starter code, a software user's guide, several boards to use for evaluation, and other design tools to get started. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
