DP83640: DP83640 LED_ACT ISSUE

Part Number: DP83640

Hi team,

My customer found when seding data package quickly(>30/second), then LED_ACT pin will keep high and LED will keep lighting(LED_ACT work on mode 1), and never back to low anymore, but if power off and power on again, the pin will go to normal, and indicate data send/receive normally.

All communication works good. Could you help to comment if this is an issue of normal feature? and why this happens?

Thanks very much.

Regards, Sunny

  • Hello Sunny,

What is your LED pin strapped to? Can you elaborate more on when you say the LED does not go low anymore? Do you mean that after your packets have been sent, the LED does not turn off?

    Thanks,

    Cecilia

  • Hi Cecilia,

The LED pin used indicate activity, I mean LED pin will keep high(even checked in scope, it keep high) during fast package sending, so my question is how long does DP83640 need to turn off LED after package sent?  (LED will turn off if no package sending).

and another strange issue is: customer has two type of DP83640 PCBA, one of it LED is connected to ground(that means high of LED pin turn on LED), the other`s LED is connected to VCC(that means low of LED pin turn on LED), but both these two boards` LED will keep turn on when sending package, do you know why?

    Thanks very much.

    Regards ,Sunny

  • Hi Sunny,

Can you please read the register dump for these devices? It will indicate what mode the LED is in and what the LED activity signifies.

    Thanks,

    Cecilia
