TCA9517A: Potential issues from non-monotonicity

Part Number: TCA9517A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA9517

Hello,

Our customer sent us a screenshot of the waveform at the receiver, TCA9517. May we ask for your advice if there is an issue that will arise from it or if it will work just fine?

I left the verbatim request in the notes above.

Thank you,
Elisha

  • Hi Elisha,

I assume you have some kind of pass FET level translator (or I2C switch) on your bus. This kind of step is generated during fast edge rates when you try to drive below the Vth of the pass FET. The time scale of this is typically very low in the low (nanoseconds) so this should not be a problem. I2C slaves are supposed to have a 50ns glitch filter so this shouldn't be a problem.
