DS90UB954-Q1: FPD-Link III by PoC EMI

Part Number: DS90UB954-Q1

Hi ALL

I have a situation about 954 connect to 953 by PoC, but I found it has some interference to my GPS signal.

System block: CPU - 954 - Poc(COAX) - 953 - Sensor

When system on and sensor place close to GPS module, it will cause CPU cannot receive any GPS nmea. On the other hand, when sensor with PoC(COAX) away from GPS module, CPU can receive GPS nmea.

Please tell me how to solve this issue. BTW, in this case, does it can tune SSC config on 954 to improve the EMI as the attached file.EMI Suppression of FPD-Link Device In Automotive .pdfEMI Suppression of FPD-Link Device In Automotive .pdf

  • Hello,

We need to first isolate the issue.

There are two possible locations for the failure:

    1) between camera and Ser -> the camera isn't outputting valid CSI data to the Ser. You can read CSI error registers (0x5C - 0x63) on the 953 to see if it's receiving errors in the CSI packets. If the Ser is receiving CSI errors, check the clk signal to the sensor to make sure it's valid.

    2) between the Ser and Des -> there's lock and parity errors in the link. You can read registers 0x4D, 0x4E, and 0x55/0x56 on the 954 to see if link is having issues. If this is the issue, you can try running the margin analysis tool when the GPS signal is nearby to find the best EQ settings.

  • Hi Jiashow

    Thanks for your reply.

    1. May I ask  what is the margin analysis tool?

    2. Truely issue are: a. when FPD-LINK ||| on and vedio image can be decode, if the sensor place nearby GPS module, it will cause CPU cannot receive GPS NMEA.

                                    b. when FPD-LINK ||| on and vedio image can be decode, it seems easy to be interfer by  enviroment(vehical engine, magnetic component...etc)

What should I do for next step to solve the interference?

  • Hello,

You can read more about the margin analysis tool here: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/snla301/snla301.pdf?ts=1588283487553

You need to verify first whether the issue is due to FPD-Link or the imager, you can read the error registers. Here's an application report for EMC: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slyt719/slyt719.pdf?ts=1588283448325
