Hi,
what is the maximum jitter value of the LVDS transmitter DS90C031QML-SP and the receiver DS90C032QML-SP combination? I wan to use the combination as clock driver to the ADC ADS1278-SP from a crystal oscillator over a cable of length 1 meter. Clock frequency is 512 kHz.
Thanks
Dinakar
Hi dinakar,
Unfortunately jitter data was never collected for these devices.

I.K.
Hi I.K. Anyiam,
Can you give its range (min. and max.) at least?
Thanks
Dinakar
Hi Dinakar,
I found a very old test report for the commercial grade version of these devices: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/snla166/snla166.pdf?ts=1588695186353
However, no data was taken for the space grade parts so unfortunately I do not know if the data is comparable and am unable to give any ranges/estimates.

I.K.
Hi I.K.,
You know that ADC accuracy also depends on its sampling clock jitter. That is why I asked you for the value. Otherwise, can you suggest any other space qualified LVDS driver with good jitter performance to meet my accuracy requirements?
Thanks,
Dinakar
Hi Dinakar,
I understand. Unfortunately these devices are not characterized for jitter as their primary function is to simply translate between LVDS and LVCMOS signal levels.
However, we are looking into developing newer LVDS buffers with low jitter specs specifically for clocking and ADC applications. Can you let me know more about your system requirements (jitter, power, size, etc)?
Regards,
I.K.
Hi I.K.,
My jitter requirement is 10 ps or better. No limitation for power, size etc.
Thanks
Dinakar
