Hi. Our Company is making a product like the Picture above.
Regardless of whether or not there is a PD charging function on the laptop, it must be connected to the hub's Upstream Port and the PD charger constantly.
-> If the laptop has a PD USB-C port, the PD charger must charge the laptop and the hub's Upstream Port must be connected to the laptop.
-> Else if the laptop has USB C port just only for a data communication, the hub's Upstream Port must be connected to the laptop and the PD charger still connected constantly without charging.
-> It is not important whether the hub is provided a 5V Power from the Laptop or the External PD charger thanks to the External 5V but if i can use the power, i will do that.
In this case, How can i make the Yellow board? We don't want to use any MCU.
Is TPS65987D a good solution for this product? if not, can you recommend another chip?
Also, Do i have to use a SS mux for the USB-C type connection on the Yellow board? i think it has been contained in the laptop already.
Hello,
I believe this reference design would be helpful http://www.ti.com/tool/TIDA-03027 . You can change the TPS65983B with the TPS65987D
Thank you for your reply
Do you provide a flash image and a configure setting to design http://www.ti.com/lit/df/tidrq14/tidrq14.pdf?ts=1588731930459 ?
Also, should i use the TUSB8041?
No, we do not typically provide the flash image used from this design.
You can ask the team responsible for the TUSB8041 if this is still the correct device to use. I believe it should be okay, but you can double check with them
