SN65DSI83: Convert DSI to RGB888

Hello Guys,

Good day!

Our customers application is to convert data from a DSI output to parallel RGB888 that can then be input into the DLPC2607 DMD driver for projection.

As a solution he is planning to use SN65DSI83 to convert DSI to LVDS. Then use DS90CF384A to convert LVDS to the parallel RGB888 input required for the DLPC2607 chip.

He wants to confirm if this solution will work for him provided the clock speeds are all the same? Or are there any better solutions/offerrings that you can suggest him?

Yes, it should be fine provided each part supports the required clock frequency.

Thank you very much for the prompt response.
After looking at the datasheet of SN65DSI83 it says the "DSI HS clock input frequency" is at minimum 40 MHz and the DLPC2607 chip has a pixel clock of up to 33.5MHz, Will this be not an issue?

Hi Art,

No, the clock frequency of the end device should correspond with the LVDS clock frequency. Since the DSI83 has an LVDS clock frequency range of 25 to 154 MHz, this should be fine.
